It’s about that time again! It’s V-Day ya’ll but don’t dread it. Yes, it’s a highly commercialized holiday and no we don’t advise sending boxes of chocolates and obnoxiously giant heart shaped balloons to your loved ones but do enjoy it! Use it as an excuse to get all dolled up, as if you really needed one. Grab some of your girls, get glam, and have a girl’s night out. “I wanted to create a few fun looks for any woman, whether she’s having a night out with her girlfriends, going to dinner with her significant other, or going out to get one!“ says makeup artist Ariana Curbelo. Base: Start with a lightweight foundation, nothing too heavy, let the lips be the focus for this look.
Brows: Define eyebrows with a pencil. Try Brow Wiz, by Anastasia Beverly Hills. The super soft tip is great for creating that natural brow and the smudge-proof formula stays in place all day. Fill in any sparse areas with fine, hair-like strokes and WA-LAH, perfect natural brow. The defined brow gives you a great contrast between the bright lip and balances the look.
Eyes: Beginning from the inner corner of the eyelid, apply a warm brown shimmering eyeshadow a shade or too lighter than your skintone. Also add the shadow under the lash line for definition. Use a light colored eye pencil on the waterline to add brightness to the eye. For the lashes, add a few medium length individual lashes on the upper lashes for some flutter and a couple of swipes of mascara.
Cheeks: Try a peachy blush for a natural flush.
Lips: Use a cherry red lip pencil to line and fill in the lips, then apply a matching red gloss on top. With so many matte lips trending, try out a glossy lip this V-Day.
Base: First apply foundation. Next, add your favorite bronzer where the sun would naturally hit. This adds a nice glowy highlighter at the high points of the face.
Brows: Define eyebrows with a pencil and short hair-like strokes. Try Brow Wiz!
Eyes: Use varying shades of warm browns. Apply a more amber bronze color on the lid, a darker matte brown on the outer corner, and a medium chocolate brown in the crease and underneath the eye. For a soft, yet defined look, skip the black eyeliner and opt for a more subtle brown shade. For extra flirty lashes, add Ardell Demi Wispies.
Lips: Fill in the lip with a nude brown lip pencil and go over with a light nude gloss.
Base: Start with your favorite foundation.
Brows: Define eyebrows with a pencil and short hair-like strokes.
Eyes: Rim the waterline and lash line with a black kohl pencil and smudge. Use an almost metallic, chocolate brown pigment or shadow all over the lid, a darker matte brown through the crease and underneath the lower lashes. Lastly, add a borderline black shadow to intensify the crease and lashline, and blend the black eyeliner a bit more. This look calls for a lot of individual lashes in different lengths all over the top and bottom lashes for much needed drama. Underneath the lower lashes, apply a glitter adhesive like Mehron Mixing Liquid and use a very small flat brush to add the glitter on top. Check out Makeup Forever for some great glitter options. And for the price conscious chica, check out Wet & Wild too!
Cheeks: Try a rosy blush.
Lips: Use a sheer, nude gloss over the lips to compliment the look. Remember the eyes are the focus of this look.
