Who Knew Pink Could Be So Bad-Ass

by Alex Berrocal· May 18, 2017· in Beauty, Makeup· 0 comments tags: glossy eye, makeup, pink, smokey eye
Photographed by Derick Marquez, Makeup by Lakeisha Dale, Styled by Join Chantisa, Featuring Bethany of Fenton Models. Pink belongs on your lips, cheeks, maybe your nails if you’re girly (us, totally us!) but never EVER your eyes, right? Wrong. Very wrong. We have to admit, past the highly experimental age of 7, the last place we’d be expecting to put any shade of pink is our eyes. But when you make pink look this bad-ass it’s kind of hard not to try it! Try out these 2 looks and tell us what you think!   Ombre Glossy Pink What you’ll need Makeup forever Flash Palette using shades Coral and Fuschia; Mac Clear Lipglass; Maybelline Lash Sensational. Eyes Using a small shadow brush and coral cream color from the Makeup Forever Flash Palette, create a half moon shape starting slightly above the crease of your eye and blending down towards your lash line. Using the same brush, apply a small amount of fuschia cream color starting at your lash line, diffusing into the coral color for an ombre effect. Use your ring finger to gently tap clear Lipglass on your lid. Quick tip: If you’re not into shelling out $15 for what is […]

Photographed by Derick Marquez, Styled by Alexandra Berrocal, Makeup by Latisha Rankin, Featuring Adreena of Fenton Models Just in case you haven’t yet perused a few sites or popped into your local H&M or Zara, this Spring is all about color (that and a surprisingly excessive amount of ruffled everything) – from clothing, to accessories, to makeup, the S/S ’17 runways were on absolute Crayola color overload so we decided to get in on the fun with celebrity makeup artist Latisha Rankin. “Something magical happens when you add pops of color to your look,” says Latisha. “Pick a point of focus, like your eyes or lips and enhance them with a touch of unexpected color.” Together we created 3 looks that might take you a little out of your “color comfort zone” but we promise it’s worth it! From your lips to your lids, check out these 3 ombres that are sure to get you as hooked on color as we are!   Ombré Under The Eyes “Choosing a pop color that works for you is as easy as finding out what your undertone is and simply enhancing it,” says Latisha. 3 ways to Get Your Shine On

by Alex Berrocal· November 28, 2016· in Makeup· 0 comments tags: beauty, glitter, makeup, metallic, ombre
Photographed by Derick Marquez | Featuring Le’Neil, Micaela & Lilas The holidays are here and you know what that means, parties, parties, parties and more chances to get experimentive and extra glittery with your makeup looks. I mean, if you’re going to close out the new year you might as well do it with a bang. Check out these 3 looks that show you how to shine in more ways than 1. Makeup by Patrice Pugh We’re totally obsessed with glitter here at The Know It Alls, in case you haven’t noticed. So of course we wanted to go one step further and test out a cobalt blue glitter. The best thing is, this is just basic glitter from the craft store. First apply Bright Blue #14 from the Makeup Forever Flash Palette to your lids, then apply the loose glitter on top, and finito! And don’t worry about the glitter moving, the eyeshadow is creme based so that glitter is there to stay, all night long. Makeup by Patrice Pugh You can never go wrong with earthy metallics. They subtly intensify your features in a golden goddess kind of way, perfect if you don’t want to stray too far […]

The down low on dupes

by · July 13, 2016· in Makeup· 0 comments tags: benefit, dupes, limecrime, lorac, mac, mascara, nicka k, ruby kisses
They say that emulation is the highest form of flattery, just packaged differently, and personally we feel the same. In the world of the consumer, duplicates or “no name” brands most often don’t hold a candle to the big guys, unless by some blessed fate a celebrity or blogger gets their hands on it. So imagine a world of duplicates that actually work that people will NEVER get to see? AAAAGGGGGHHH, frightening! That’s why we decided to dedicate some time to find some of the most popular brands we know and love, and offer up “dupes”  that work just as good as the original, if not better and just in time for the summer! Bronzer  Lorac: Baked Bronzer, Tantalizer, $33.00 Dupe: Ruby Kisses: Bronzing Powder, Bronze Glow  $3.99 Mascara  Benefit: Beyond Mascara, They’re Real,  $24.00 Dupe: Ruby Kisses, Instant Fakes $4.99 Lips  Limecrime: Velvetines, Riot $20.00 Dupe: Nicka K: True Matte, Turkish Rose $1.99

The 1 piece your missing in your makeup kit

by · June 27, 2016· in Makeup· 0 comments tags: hand palette, makeup, makeup box ldn
Makeup artists and makeup lovers, listen up because this article is for you. With a plethora of products continually flooding the scene, it can get pretty overwhelming trying to figure out which one works, if the product will actually work for you, and of course, how much will it cost? At The Know It Alls we’re always testing new products and what kind of friends would we be if we didn’t share all our game changing finds with you? The latest add to our makeup arsenal is the Hand Palette. “Makeup should enhance, transform, and give you confidence by creating an even more beautiful you,” says Hand Palette founder Emily Barrett. And no better way to do that then with the right tools. After years of working in the makeup industry, Emily found she would always leave work with her hands completely covered in makeup. So she created a handy little lifesaver to keep her hands makeup-free. The Hand Palette is made of acrylic and slots perfectly onto the left or right hand. You can put your eyeliners, primers, and other liquid/cream products straight onto the palette and your good to go. You can also use it to mix and customize colors for foundation or eyeshadow […]

How to get that perfectly plump pout

by · April 11, 2016· in Makeup· 0 comments tags: kylie, lips, matte lip, plump, pout
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, we’re pretty sure you’ve noticed just how completely “lip obsessed” our society has become thanks to a perfectly plump lipped little Jenner. But we’re not going to discuss the origins of full lips or if using fillers, surgeries, and plumping alternatives is right or wrong, we just want to help you achieve fuller lips without the hassle, expensive products, or unforeseen health issues. Like we always say, the foundation of your skin before starting ANY beauty regimen is always a priority, and the same goes here for your lips. To get that perfect pout, first begin with an exfoliation of your lips. 3 Ways to exfoliate your lips with household items Option 1 Right before bedtime, apply a generous amount of Vaseline on your lips. In the morning, take a dry towel and rub (in a circular motion) the excess Vaseline off your lips. In doing this, you will remove the top layer of skin into the towel (my preferred way), revealing a softer lip. Option 2 Take a small amount of baking soda mixed with water (to create a paste) and apply it to the lips, and in a circular motion scrub the upper lip then the lower […]

Get glam this Valentine’s Day

by Alex Berrocal· February 14, 2016· in Makeup· 0 comments tags: glitter, gloss, glow, lipstick, makeup, red, ruby, valentines day
Photographed by Derick Marquez It’s about that time again! It’s V-Day ya’ll but don’t dread it. Yes, it’s a highly commercialized holiday and no we don’t advise sending boxes of chocolates and obnoxiously giant heart shaped balloons to your loved ones but do enjoy it! Use it as an excuse to get all dolled up, as if you really needed one. Grab some of your girls, get glam, and have a girl’s night out. “I wanted to create a few fun looks for any woman, whether she’s having a night out with her girlfriends, going to dinner with her significant other, or going out to get one!“ says makeup artist Ariana Curbelo. Show us what you got ladies! Try these looks out and tag @theknowitallsnyc! Chic  Base: Start with a lightweight foundation, nothing too heavy, let the lips be the focus for this look. Brows: Define eyebrows with a pencil. Try Brow Wiz, by Anastasia Beverly Hills. The super soft tip is great for creating that natural brow and the smudge-proof formula stays in place all day. Fill in any sparse areas with fine, hair-like strokes and WA-LAH, perfect natural brow. The defined brow gives you a great contrast between […]

3 Concealers you need NOW

by · December 10, 2015· in Makeup· 0 comments tags: cc cream, concealer, coverup, foundation, highlighter, kevin aucoin, mac, makeup, nyx
Courtesy of MAC To conceal, or not conceal that is the question. Concealer is one of those products in a woman’s makeup kit that should never be taken for granted. It’s just as important as your foundation, so don’t let concealer take the back seat, the two work hand in hand. At The Know It Alls, we LOVE a good concealer so let us give you the low down on the benefits of concealer, how to make sure you’ve got your hands on the right 1, and our top picks of course! The benefits of concealer: 1. Hides hyper-pigmentation on any part of the skin. 2. Corrects under-eye darkness. 3. Doubles as a highlighting shade. 4. Can be used as a CC Cream when blended with face lotion. It’s important you choose a concealer that works for your skin tone, so we recommend choosing a color one shade lighter than your skin if using your concealer as a highlight. If using a concealer as an overall pigment corrector then pick a shade that is your true match. Here are our top 3 concealers: Kevin Aucoin: Sensual Skin Enhancer 48.00, Sephora.com. With this concealer ALL you need is a pen tip amount per eye. The […]

What made our editor go foundation-free

by Alex Berrocal· December 08, 2015· in Makeup· 0 comments tags: acne, beauty, blotchy, dorit baxter, facial, facials, foundation, makeup, natural, skin, skin care
Courtesy of Dorit Baxter Since my discovery of makeup in the 7th grade, I’ve forever been one of those women that wouldn’t be caught dead without foundation. It was always on my list of top 3 makeup items I wouldn’t leave the house without, along with a miracle working mascara and a good brow filler. These are things a woman just needs. An ongoing case of acne and blotchy skin, nothing too severe, but enough to make me want to cover it up, were the main reasons I wore foundation daily. I was definitely no stranger at the dermatologist’s office either. I was always prescribed some type of topical medication that caused my acne to subside but it never quite gave me that, “I look like I’m wearing foundation but I’m totally not look.” Worst of all, when I stopped using the medication, the acne always came back and nothing ever really helped with the blotchiness.  I’m not a fan of medication, unless I’m in dire need so the thought of having to use prescription acne medication my whole life wasn’t really an option for me. For the past 2 years, I stopped trying different medications and gave my skin a […]

Get that “summer glow” in the winter

by · December 01, 2015· in Makeup· 0 comments tags: dewy, glow, makeup, natural
Photo Courtesy of Studded Hearts With summer over and fall coming to an end, I know many women are in search of the best products to help maintain the last little bit of that summer glow. Winter can definitely take a toll on our skin but have no fear, we’ve rounded up a few products to give you year round glowing skin. Don’t worry we got you. Follow these 4 steps and you’ll be looking dewy and sun-kissed in the dead of winter. The first tip for dewy skin is to start off your beauty routine with a good moisturizer as your base. Do this before primer. I like to go natural with a pea size amount of Raw Shea Butter, mixed with Clean & Clear: Dual Action Moisturizer, the shea butter adds the appropriate amount of moisture and the Clean and Clear fights the acne!   Apply a generous amount of Sephora, 10 HR Wear Perfection Foundation to your skin to correct any discoloration, scars, or just to even out your skintone. Blend with a makeup brush or sponge. Pat a “pen tip” size amount of highlighter under the eye, starting from the tearduct and ending at the hairline. I LOVEEEEEEE the skin […]
