I heard birds chirping today and I’m pretty sure a bumble bee was buzzing around my window sill so it’s official: spring has sprung! If you’re anything like me you can’t believe it’s happened so soon but you still have trust issues considering mother nature’s track record. But never mind the weather or your doubts, spring is really what you make it. And that includes your wardrobe. Here are the do’s and don’ts of spring cleaning:
Do make time
Often times with spring cleaning we assume that we’ll magically have the motivation to organize our closet. The truth is: YOU WON’T! There I said it. The very fact that you’re reading this right now indicates you aren’t doing it. But never mind that, continue reading the next three tips and you’ll be productive #goals.
Do Consider the season
Spring is the delicate balance between rain and sunshine. Meaning you’ll need your umbrella and a pair of shorts. When deciding what to keep and what to pack away it’s important to remember the ups and downs of spring. I wouldn’t go storing away my jackets just yet and it’s probably too warm for fur.
Don’t throw away your clothes
By the time you’ve set a date, started organizing and deciding what items to keep and what to give away it’s very tempting to discard it all—PAUSE—consider donating your clothes or selling them for extra cash (Sissy’s Closet is a great place for that). Besides, it’s better to give than to receive even if it concerns a pink fleece.
Consider new ways to wear your fall clothes in spring before you head out to shop. Why? You’ll avoid buying the same things over and over again. Plus there’s a 99.9% chance you haven’t worn everything in your closet. In the case that you don’t take this advice, let me know where you’ll be shopping in the comments below 😉
