With the new year approaching everyone is excited about entering in with a BIG bang, but let’s not forget that between Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the New Year, we’ve done a lot to our bodies. Whether it was eating ALL of the food in the kitchen at Thanksgiving, or not eating enough because we were to busy “playing hostess” to family and friends, and my personal favorite….. just being soooo tired that we’ve slept in your made-up face every night this week! This time of the year, we need to be on our “A game” so let us help you look great and FEEL refreshed throughout the new year!
The first tip we want to share with you is the “power of hydrationnnnnnnn,” specifically staying hydrated throughout the holiday season. It’s extremely important to drink ACTUAL WATER! Trust us, we know that there’s water in alcohol, coffee, and fruity beverages, but unfortunately they still should not be substituted for the good ol’ H2O. Try your best to consume actual glasses of water, not only will it help with holiday weight gain by improving digestion, it also helps with keeping your skin soft, supple, and glowing, making any makeup application wayyyyy better.
Our second tip is…REST!!!
We know with the annual turn-ups happening and your inbox and emails getting flooded with invites it’s hard to resist, but PLEASE find time to sleep. You’ll be more effective and alert so you can actually enjoy yourself. Resting regularly will keep your holiday mood at an ultimate high, and your skin looking as fresh as a baby’s bottom!
Our third tip is…DON’T skip your regular workout routine. It’s normal to feel like you have too much on your plate, so the first thing most people cut out is their gym time, this is a NO NO. Your body needs a way to let out toxins, and naturally purify your skin and insides. So getting a few quick cardio boosts in between holiday festivities is a plus, and you won’t feel as bad when you pick up that slice of pie instead of a carrot.
One thing we LOVE to do at The Know It Alls is not just tell you what to do, but we actually want to see you succeed in your efforts. So here’s a little extra nudge for those who still feel it’s impossible to do any of the above mentioned steps!
If you’re not a fan of water, try sprucing it up a bit with fresh fruit, or if you can’t seem to make the time to squeeze in some water breaks, try eating fruits that aid in hydration, boost energy levels, and metabolism.
1. Cucumbers are the perfect water companion. They hydrate the body and also improve the overall taste of your water.
2. Watermelon…..need I say more? It’s an actual fruit named after water!!!
3. Lemon, a few slices in your water or applied to actual skin daily can improve the overall appearance of hyper pigmentation and speed up your metabolism, for just an overall refreshed feeling.
Working out doesn’t require a gym at all. All you need is a bit of floor space and a max of 30 minutes. Check out our previous post “Get Your Best Workout in 30 Minutes or Less.” As far as resting goes, really take a breather. Briefly disconnect from the world. Turn off your phone, television, whatever devices keep you from relaxing, and just rest your brain and thoughts, meditate on good things and sleep in peace….ahhhhh I’m nodding off already! Enjoy your holidays and enter into your new year a NEW YOU, and of course be blessed!!! Happy Holidays from The Know It Alls and see you in 2016, flawless skin and all!
