The 1 thing holding you back from saving like a boss

by Kristin Sutton· January 10, 2017· in Work & Money· 0 comments tags: budget, finance, money, save, savings
We all wanna save more and boss up our bank accounts but sometimes it’s easier said than done.  What’s keeping a lot of people from actually putting in the work with saving their coins is their MINDSET. Your thoughts influence how you manage your money. Point. Blank. Period. How you think about yourself, your worth, and what you deserve could be the very thing keeping you from prospering out here in these streets. I have some good news for you though. Everything that you think and do as a result of those thoughts can be unlearned! If you’re serious about making 2017 your best year yet financially, then you have to start by getting your mind right. Get into the habit of thinking that what you desire financially can be achieved by gaining the knowledge and skills needed. Don’t worry about what has happened in your past, how terrible you’ve been with your spending, and how you think you don’t make enough money. None of those things matter. Know why? There’s this thing called G R O W T H. More specifically, having a growth mindset is key for getting your finances on fleek and saving more.  I’m going to […]

3 Healthy lunch spots under $10

by Alex Berrocal· October 27, 2015· in Food· 0 comments tags: budget, cheap, food, healthy
Photo Credit: Dig Inn Inexpensive AND healthy? Sounds like an oxymoron to me. A great thing about New York is there are so many health conscious places to eat, the downside is, they often come at a price. I don’t know about you but a $20 lunch is a little cray. So all in favor of not having to sacrifice health for cheap prices, say “I” and check out some budget friendly lunch options! Dig Inn With 5 locations in the city, Dig Inn has quickly democratized the farm-to-table movement by offering ridiculously good food at a reasonable price. Many of their ingredients are sourced locally to ensure freshness and the best tasting food possible. Their beliefs that “everyone deserves to eat well,” led the New York based restaurant to challenge the synonymity often linked between high prices and healthy food. Dig Inn has indeed revolutionized the idea of “healthy fast food.” Get the: small plate which ranges from $8-$10. You choose 1 meat and 2 sides on a bed of grains or greens or 4 sides (no meat) on a bed of grains or greens. Be forewarned, things move quick here. With over 10 different side options, both hot and cold and […]

How To Shop Without Going Broke

by Alex Berrocal· September 28, 2015· in Trends· 0 comments tags: budget, fashion, nyc, shopping, streetstyle, theknowitalls, trend
Photo Courtesy of Tales from the Thrift Whoever said diamonds were a girl’s best friend must have never knew the relationship between a woman and her closet. It’s a love that runs deep—well deep into the bottom of our pockets that is. With sky high NYC rent, school loans, and bills, that hardly leaves us with enough money to fulfill our womanly shopping desires. In a perfect world, Prada & Gucci pieces would fall effortlessly from the sky landing perfectly nestled in our closets…free of charge of course. But until that glorious day, Christina, Tales From The Thrift style blogger is teaching us how to score some awesome pieces while still managing to pay our rent on time. What’s your blog about? My blog is about looking good on a budget. The majority of my posts feature outfits I put together using thrifted, secondhand/swapped, sale and gifted pieces. I’m a big believer in style not being solely about how much money you spend, but how you can make the most out of what you have. How did you get into thrifting? I started thrifting a lot when I first moved to NYC after college. Basically, I wasn’t prepared for just […]
